Echium vulgare
Vipers Bugloss

A truly stunning wild flower that produces elegant spikes of blue flowers that are born from pink buds from June - Sept. Not only a must as a wildflower but also as a bedding plant due to its vibrant Blue Flowers and pink buds. A low growing plant that will reach 15 - 20 cm
These are an excellent food source for Bees and other insects.

The seed is best sown sown in Autumn and allowed to sit in the ground until the following spring when it will germinate.  Plant the seed either in situ or in pots of wet compost to a depth of approx 0.5cm - 1 cm and allow to stand until the spring.
Spring sown seeds may need to have a chilled period prior to germination - this can be done by placing the seed in a fridge for a few weeks prior to sowing - This is not always necessary so we tend to do a 50% sow for the fridge and 50% outside.
